06|Project Process blog: Prototype & Playtest

Here is my reflection on our first cross-section prototype and playtest.

1. I feel that my project is currently at a stage of repositioning and searching for deeper development directions. In the process of repeatedly introducing my project to others, I have clarified several goals for it:

  • I will focus the project on exploring how we can still interact with strangers in a relatively "personal" and "private" restroom space.
  • I aim to move beyond mobile phones as the medium of interaction, especially social media platforms. (So, maybe no phones, no QR codes—I want to try building my own interactive interface.)
  • I do not intend to encourage people to stay in the restroom stall for an extended period. Instead, I want to create a brief moment where pure play or interaction with strangers provides an unexpected, playful, and refreshing "breather" in daily life.

2. At the same time, I am considering technical challenges such as managing power supply, equipment safety, and privacy concerns. Next, I will attempt to use Arduino to test the potential applications of sound sensors, infrared sensors, and ultrasonic sensors.

3. Current brainstorming mind map for the project:
